Within the Temple of the Black & White Isis

First and foremost this is NOT a workshop for women only! This workshop is built around the images of the Black Isis (Nephthys in the Egyptian Tradition) and the White Isis. Both aspects form a powerful balance, which is mirrored in other traditions, including the Christian tradition with the Black Madonna.

This workshop is about balance, internally within your own psyche and externally within the manifested world. You will be part of a sacred and ancient Priesthood for the weekend, either as a member of the Priesthood of Nephthys or the Priesthood of Isis. You will learn how magical and earthly power is mediated between these two archetypes and the rituals will provide you with a powerful experience of this both internally, and in your own life following the workshop.

The temple will be divided with a curtain, half being dedicated to the White Isis and half to her dark sister Nephthys. DO NOT confuse dark with unworthy or evil; without darkness we cannot see the stars. It is dark within the Earth just before spring seeds come into view. It is dark within the womb before birth into light.

For those who attended the previous Black and White Isis workshops in the UK in 2002 and in California in 2003 this takes the work a step further. The workshop has been extended by one day and rituals have been restructured. The main Saturday evening ritual is a full re-enactment of the Remembering of Osiris.

There will be evening rituals to the Black Isis and early morning rituals to the White Isis, a morning ritual of devotion and a number of pathworkings. There will also be lectures and talks on the symbolism of the Gods of Egypt, the relationship between Isis and Nephthys, and the deeper meaning of the Sorrows of Isis and the Remembering of Osiris.

Living “As If”

We have structured this workshop so that you will live and work as a member of the Priesthoods of Isis and Nephthys. We request that you take this very seriously, and behave as you would see fit for an initiated Egyptian Priest or Priestess. We strongly believe that acting “as if” creates a different reality and enables us to really connect into the energy patterns and archetypes of the Egyptian Religion. A few weeks in advance of the workshop we will write to all attendees and let you know what colour robe you require, black or white; depending upon the temple you are assigned to.

What You will Gain From Attending This Training

Each student will receive a detailed training manual containing background information, lecture notes, rituals and a comprehensive bibliography.

You will understand:

• Why an Egyptian temple is set up the way it is
• The true meaning and symbolism of Isis and Nephthys and the path to balance between these two great goddesses
• The secrets of your innermost longings and fears

This is not a workshop for the faint-hearted. It will show up much of what you have kept hidden, even from yourself. It may not be a totally comfortable experience and will certainly have repercussions for several weeks afterwards. This is not an “airy-fairy” sit, listen and feel good workshop. This is powerful magic that will demand a lot from you. It is in every sense of the word a training seminar for the soul.

Workshop Location & Cost

This is a fully catered, residential workshop held at Oxon Hoath, a beautiful retreat house just off the M25 near Sevenoaks in Kent. We have exclusive use of the house and grounds. Exact location and joining instructions will be sent upon booking.

Registration is from 4.30pm on Thursday 26^th June 2008 and the workshop will start at 7pm after dinner. It will finish around 3.30pm on Sunday 29^th June.

The workshop fee is £430 (£450 for non-SOL Members) for the three nights all-inclusive.
